dance marathon

For the first time ever, Dance Marathon at SDSU participants who fundraise a certain amount or more will receive a box full of coupons, merchandise and other goodies as a thank you for their efforts.

In order to receive one of these exciting boxes, participants must fundraise the specified amount on or before January 22nd, 2020. For each new tier achieved, all of the items in lower tiers will also be included in the given event box. For example, a participant who earns the Bad Dancing Saves Lives event box will receive all of the items included in the Kids Deserve Hope and For The Kids event boxes also.

Stay tuned for information about an additional incentive to fundraise up until our final reveal on February 27th, 2021!

As an organization, our primary mission and focus is to advocate for and celebrate the almost 250,000 children treated at Rady Children’s Hospital annually. In addition to this, our movement is one that focuses on the health and wellbeing of everyone involved with our cause. It is because of these values, and in order to protect our participants, miracle families and San Diego community, that we have made the difficult but right decision to move our Dance Marathon at SDSU 2021 event to a 100% online format.

Although we will not be walking together through the doors of Montezuma Hall in February, we want to remind our community that the fight to change kids’ health is far from over. Until no child has to spend time in a hospital, we will be right there advocating for and celebrating those that do, no matter the circumstances we find ourselves in. Even through a pandemic, Kids Deserve Hope.

While this turn of events was unexpected, the outpouring of support has also been unprecedented. We have been blown away by the unconditional enthusiasm and support of our participants, donors and community as a whole, and are committed to hosting a virtual event that will be just as engaging and meaningful as an in-person one. Dance Marathon at SDSU 2021 will still take place the weekend of February 26-27, and we are excited to announce more details in the coming weeks and explore what options this new format has in store for us; there will still be many of the elements you know and love from in-person events, including family stories!

Though our hearts are heavy and this is not the news we wanted to deliver, we believe this is the only safe and responsible choice to make. In times like these, we encourage our community to remember that “it’s a one.” Sick and injured kids need us now more than ever, and we can’t wait to see what miracles we’re still able to make for them.
